The World
Market Place is a nonprofit, volunteer-based program which helps low income
craftpersons in developing nations by marketing their handicrafts. With
each $1,200 of retail sales, full-time employment for a year is provided
at a fair wage for one family in the developing world.
Volunteer
Opportunities World Market Place depends on volunteers to help the
manager with daily operations of the store. Volunteers receive training
to be sales clerks, to unpack merchandise, stock shelves and help with
inventory. Volunteers are encouraged to learn as much as possible about
the crafts and the people who make them so as to serve as advocates for
the craftspeople. Individuals who volunteer generally work 8 - 16 hours
per month. Call 254-8374 for more information.
