The food and fun of the holidays are no excuse to let health fall by the wayside, and Park Ridge Hospital's Wellness on Wheels has a full schedule of December health events to help keep folks on track. Each month, WOW offers a variety of events, screenings or lectures provided to the community.

Vision Screening
Vision screenings for far-sightedness, near sightedness, color acuity and macular degeneration. No appointment necessary.

Lipid and glucose profiles by finger stick, along with blood pressure and body mass index screenings. No appointment necessary. Persons should fast overnight before arriving for test.

Book Fair

�I Can Cope�
Monday, December 4 at 5:00 pm
The �I Can Cope� Cancer Support group will meet in the Duke Room at Park Ridge Hospital. This month Art Slagle, Park Ridge Hospital Chaplain, will present on the topic �Celebrating Life�. Call 681-2917 for more information.
Holiday Magic: A Festival of Trees
Friday, December 8th at 6:30 pm
Come and join us as we salute local non-profit agencies. Enjoy holiday music, caroling and a LIVE nativity at our 5th annual tree decorating contest. The Grand Prize Winner will receive $10,000. Among the additional prizes is the �People�s Choice Award�, make sure you come out and vote for your favorite tree.
Toys for Tots
Park Ridge Hospital will be collecting toys for Toys for Tots from November 19 through December 24. You can bring children�s gifts to these drop-off points: main lobby of the hospital, the drive thru at Fletcher Pharmacy, & the Home Health office in the Brownsberger Building on Howard Gap Road.
Kid Power
Referrals are presently being accepted for the next Kid Power session slated to begin January 9, 2007. This program, designed to fight the ever increasing problem of childhood obesity, is a 12 week clinically supervised program and is FREE for qualified applicants. Arden Community Health Fair
January 14th 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm and 15th 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
This 3rd Annual Health Fair, brought to the community by Park Ridge Hospital and the Arden Seventh Day Adventist Church, will feature FREE health screenings and education, food samples, and more. 35 Airport Road, Arden. Appointments recommended, call 681-2730.
Fletcher Relay for Life Kick-off
Saturday, January 27th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Park Ridge Hospital is proud to have a team in this important fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. Frostbite 5K and Health Fair
Sunday, February 18th (times TBA)
Annual 5K Frostbite Race and Community Health Fair. This popular 5K event is a fundraiser for the Park Ridge Foundation. In 2006 Park Ridge added a health fair in conjunction with the race. Due to the success of that event, it will be continued in 2007.
