United Federal Credit Union (United) donated more than $4,000 to local organizations and an individual in North Carolina as part of the 2022 Pay It Forward initiative.
As part of Pay It Forward, United provided $20 to every employee to give to a needy individual, family, or organization of their choice. Many departments and branches combined funds and even added their own financial contributions to create a more substantial donation, further demonstrating the passion Team United has for its members and communities.
Organizations supported by United employees in North Carolina in 2022 include: Fifth Street Ministries, Meals on Wheels, ten children from Emma Elementary, as well as a member in need this holiday season.
“Our team here in Arkansas always steps up during the holiday season to help our communities in Asheville, Fletcher, Hendersonville, and Statesville,” said Lee Beason, Regional Vice President. “The credit union philosophy is people helping people. Team United is proud to live that philosophy every day of the year, but especially at the end of the year when our neighbors need a little extra help.”
Collectively, United employees donated more than $20,900 to 71 different families, individuals, and community organizations across the six states where branches are located.
The program began in 2008 with a request from employees that they use the money otherwise spent on internal holiday celebrations to help people in the community. Since then, the Pay It Forward tradition has become part of the credit union’s service-first culture and a way for Team United to its communities during the holidays.
United President/CEO Terry O’Rourke credited the company’s culture and the dedication to service by employees for the Pay It Forward program’s continued growth and success.
“We love to see the enthusiasm for Pay It Forward grow every year,” said O’Rourke. “Team United really lives the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People” not just around the holidays, but every day of the year. We are proud to support and improves the lives of our Members and our communities.”
