The Hendersonville Police Department has installed a pill drop box in the lobby of its police department headquarters. The collection bin is available to citizens twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
“Our department secured this drop box through a partnership with CVS Pharmacy’s community donation program where local police departments can apply to receive these drug collection units to help citizens in their communities safely dispose of their unwanted medications including controlled substances,” states Hendersonville Police Chief Herbert Blake.
Chief Blake continues, “We would like to thank Hope RX Director Julie Honeycutt and Robert Childs, the Executive Director for North Carolina Harm Reduction Coalition in Wilmington for their letters of support. We would also like to thank Lieutenant Mike Vesely for his detailed work preparing and submitting the grant. We hope that this additional permanent collection site will encourage more residents to get rid of their unwanted prescriptions, especially opioid pain relievers before they end up in the wrong hands.”
The Hendersonville Police Department is physically located at 145 5th Avenue East at the corner of King Street and the collection box is located in the lobby of the 1st floor off 6th Avenue.
