Pardee Hospital Purchases Property in Mills River

Parade Hospital is exploring options to improve access to health care in northwest Henderson County. Over the past few months, Pardee Hospital has been exploring opportunities in the Mills River area of Henderson County.

Most recently, Pardee closed on 20 acres in Mills River, directly across from the Ingles located at the corner of N. Mills River Road and Boylston Highway.

“We see this as a positive move for Pardee and one that makes sense in reaching people in Etowah, Mills River, and Fletcher,” said James M. Kirby, II, President and CEO, Pardee Hospital. “This is part of a measured, strategic approach to planning for the health care needs of our community. We have worked with business and industry, listened to our patients, and heard from residents within our county that access to high quality health care in that area of the county is a growing concern.”

Before Pardee closed on the property, the seller rezoned the property from Neighborhood Commercial to General Business. Kirby noted that the hospital plans to take their time in finalizing plans for the property, remaining flexible in determining exact needs and planning accordingly, while also working within the zoning requirements.

Pardee Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital founded in 1953 and is managed by UNC Health Care. The hospital is licensed for 222 acute care beds. The hospital has several locations separate from the main campus and a comprehensive physician practice network. For more information or to find a physician, visit www.pardeehospital.org.
