The road to the NCAA Final Four starts in Asheville. In partnership with Explore Asheville, the Southern Conference is directing a portion of premium level ticket sales to the Always Asheville Fund, an emergency grant program supporting small, independent travel and hospitality businesses as they recover from the impacts of Hurricane Helene. Additionally, there will be numerous onsite giving opportunities for fans.
Try Tennis for Kids at Hendersonville Racquet Club: A Fun, Affordable Way to Get Into the Game!
Looking for a fun, active way to introduce your child to tennis? Try Tennis for Kids is the perfect program
for children ages 5â14 who are new to the sport or have had minimal experience. Over the course of six
weeks, your child will learn the fundamentals of tennis, including basic strokes, how to rally, and most
importantly, have fun learning a new sport!
For $40, each child will receive a free racquet and instruction from our coaches. This is a fantastic
opportunity to develop important skills in a supportive, welcoming environment.
Program Highlights:

â Dates: March 4th â April 15th (No class on March 18th for Spring Break)

The North Carolina Writers Network and The Brandy Bar + Cocktails present ANDREW CLARK and MICHAEL COLONESE as next in their series âIn the Company of Writersâ
The program offers a series of personal and conversational dialogues featuring guest writers/poets followed by an open mic forum. These inspirational gatherings will elucidate and entertain those attending. The guest authors speaks from 7-8 PM with an open mic from 8 -9 PM. The Chicago blues music of âHollywood Johnny Cosgroveâ (accompanied by Charlie Wilkinson) welcomes you, continues during intermission, and closes the evening. Sign-ups for the open mic sheet is posted at the entry.
Originally scheduled in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Helene,
a free dementia workshop is back on the calendar at The Episcopal Church of St. John in the
Wilderness. âLearning to Dance with Dementia: When to Lead, When to Follow and When to Get
Out of the Wayâ will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 1 pm until 3:30 pm in the Parish
Hall across the street from the church, located at 1905 Greenville Highway in Flat Rock.
Unlock the secrets to compassionate and effective dementia care at this workshop with Mary
Donnelly, a dynamic dementia consultant. This interactive session offers insight and strategies to
help caregivers navigate the delicate balance of communicating with a person whose brain is
changing.
Discover how to harmonize your approach with the unique needs of the person in your care,
fostering a more fulfilling less stressful caregiving experience. Join us to enhance your skills and
learn how to dance gracefully through the challenges of dementia care.
Dementia has and is touching so many of our loved ones, including event organizer Ronnie Doty. âI
began this journey of dementia with my husband," Doty said. "I used every resource available so I
could know what lies ahead. If you are informed about the disease you can become a much better
caregiver."

Blue Ridge Naturalist â Elective Credit
With GPS built into our phones and cars, we are increasingly in danger of losing our ways of navigating. Expand your understanding of topographic and geologic maps with this course taught by Geologist Anton DuMars. An in-class portion will focus on an investigation of map symbols, scales, dates, color-coding, water features, and other attributes that are used to interpret data on topographic and geologic maps into. Then the class will move outside for a skills session to interpret real-world features within a map, stepping off on some exploration at the Arboretum. If you have one, please bring a handheld compass with you to the class but we will have some for students to borrow if needed.
This program takes place both indoors and out. Please come prepared to walk on gentle, yet uneven terrain, and dress appropriately for the weather.

Kanugaâs musician-in-residence Rev. Simon Ruth de Voil and folk artist Samara Jade honor the feast day of St. Patrick with an evening of Celtic music, story, lore and handcraft. In addition to the concert, guests can enjoy beverages, good company and a buffet â and try their hands at weaving St. Brigidâs cross for protection and well-being in the year to come. Tickets to the event are $30 for the concert and buffet or $15 for the concert.
Rev. Simon Ruth de Voil is an ordained interfaith/inter-spiritual minister, trained to be a sacred presence outside the conventions of traditional religion. As a sacred musician, spiritual mentor, and worship leader, he incorporates chant, ritual, poetry, storytelling, and mindful practice to create a space for profound connection and sacred witness. Simon provides music for worship, ceremony, and prayer in a wide variety of churches and non-religious spiritual communities. He particularly loves to create music for meditation, healing services, and rites of passage.
Simon is also an experienced workshop and retreat leader, drawing on 15 years of study, training, and practice that grew from his time living and working in Iona Abbey. Although influenced by many traditions, Simonâs spiritual path and teaching are deeply rooted in Celtic Christianity, the wisdom of the earth, and the Scottish land where heâs spent most of his life. simondevoil.com

Acclaimed author and retreat leader RenĂ©e Trudeau leads an embodied spiritual experience exploring ways to connect with the Divine in everyday life â including through song, gentle movement, meditation and more. Part of Kanugaâs Lunch & Learn series, the Thursday, March 20 event begins with a nature immersion gathering (weather permitting) at 10 a.m. Trudeauâs âSoul Tendingâ presentation will begin at 11 a.m., followed by a buffet lunch in Kanugaâs dining hall. The Spring Equinox Concert, held on Kanugaâs labyrinth, ushers in the season of renewal with music to soothe the soul and nourish the spirit. As dusk falls to starlight and birdsong gives way to the frog chorus, Kanugaâs musician-in-residence Rev. Simon Ruth de Voil invites guests to honor the balance and energy of spring while immersed in nature under the open sky. The buffet-style dinner begins at 5:30 p.m., and the concert follows at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $30 for the concert and buffet or $10 for the concert only.

How it Works:
Comics who are on the show will do 3-5m of comedy depending on how many sign up to participate. The showâs top comics will be selected by the paid audience in an anonymous ballet after all comics perform their sets.
Audience will select their favorite top comics of the evening who will be brought back to compete in our next round, date TBA. There are 3 competition rounds and a finale 5 comic Pageant who will vie for the crown, Asheville top-comic title & cash prize.
