Celebrating our 60th Season will be one of the best known and most performed works by Johannes Brahms – “A German Requiem” (sung in English), and two works commissioned by the Chorale from Dan Forrest. The Brahms was the first major work the Chorale performed in its 1961 inaugural season and has been a regular part of the Chorale repertoire through the years. The text from the Bible expresses comfort and assurance in time of deepest need. Affirming the Chorale’s 60 years of great music, “Gloria in Excelsis” and St. Patrick’s Hymn” by Dan Forrest express joy, appreciation and profound hope for each of us.
The Greenville Chorale dedicates this concert in memory of those who lost their life to Covid and to all people whose lives were impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
7:00 PM – Paul Hyde will lead a discussion of Brahms’ “A German Requiem” in Genevieve’s in the Peace Center lobby.
