Canton Town Hall: Impacts of Paper Mill Closure

The Canton Paper Mill has closed its doors after more than 100 years of operation. The closing of the mill is life changing for the over 1,000 people who work there and is going to have significant effects on the regional economy, including many businesses and workers located in Buncombe County. Please join members of the Buncombe NCGA delegation, a representative from Governor Cooper’s office, and subject matter experts for this listening session and town hall on Thursday, June 1. If your business will be affected by the plant’s closure, we want to hear from you. We will also be discussing what the government is doing to support businesses and workers that will be affected by the closure and taking questions from the audience.
