Henderson County Solid Waste and Environmental Programs has launched an online recycling and waste disposal database called Recyclopedia.
“You can type in almost anything and the database will show you a picture and description of the item, as well as information on proper disposal,” said Rachel Kipar, Environmental Programs Coordinator. “Our hope is that this online tool will help county residents understand the appropriate disposal of various waste and recyclables and cut down on contamination in the curbside and Convenience Center recycling streams.”
The tool is accessible on the county’s recycling website, www.hcreycles.org/recyclopedia.
Staff has also coordinated campaigns launching throughout 2018 to educate residents on items often put in the recycling bin that shouldn’t be, such as plastic film, textiles, tangling cords or hoses, and food waste.
